Hello World!

Hello World!

Over two years ago, the blog bug bit me. It injected in me a desire to have a social media presence. In thinking of the name of my blog, several things that are part of my lived experiences came into play. I love tea and its derivations; I have lived and travelled across the globe; I have dabbled in writing stories that include my passion for tea and travel. The name, ‘flyingtealeaves’  was meant to be a reflection of my imagination soaring and words pouring through the medium of my blog.

It was a great start to the blog and as a novice in the online presence domain, I started well but then tapered off into silence. Recently, I came across a blogging course at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education and enrolled in it. I am about to complete the course and it has shone a light on things I can do with my blog posts and has provided me with the motivation to revive my blog.

This course has helped me learn the tools a blogger needs, and it has re-awakened the spark of creativity by making me ponder on some foundational questions. Questions such as:

What do you know a lot about?

What do you want to tell others?

How will you be part of an online community?

What can you learn from them?

What skills do you need to develop?

Do I have the answer to all the questions? Not yet. Have these questions aided me in finding my path to a meaningful online presence? Yes. These questions will continue to guide me as I let go of my silence and re-invoke the muse. Ideas are percolating and taking direction. Tea and travel will still be an integral part of my tales. Now the tales will include anecdotes and narratives where the readers will find connections with people and situations they can relate to. My vision is to let the tea leaves fly far and wide and inspire positivity in readers that will encourage them to fulfill their dreams.

  1. Thank you for this post. Starting with the crisp alliteration in the first sentence, your words continue to nudge my thinking in a direction where the process is precious. In a world where the noise of “look what I’m doing, see how awesome I am” drowns out the voices of many, your stance of wondering and waiting invites me to travel with you. Please keep writing.
